I am pleased to announce the 2nd Annual West Ashley Good Beer Festival on Saturday December 6, 2008 from 1pm-5pm @ d.d. Peckers’ Wing Shack in West Ashley.

Tix are $25.00/advance or $30.00/day of which includes Food, Music and the Beer.

There will be tasting glasses for sale.

So far we have the following breweries represented:

Coast (SC), Founder’s (MI), Stoudt’s (PA), Clipper City (MD), Ommegang (NY), Great Divide (CO), Stone (CA), Palmetto (SC), Allagash (ME), Victory (PA), Avery (CO), Weyerbacher (PA), RJ Rockers (SC), and many more to come.

Yes! The Charleston Beer Exchange will have a soft opening this Saturday, November 15.  I believe hours that day are 11-9. I’m told it is a soft opening because they are still getting inventory in so it won’t be fully stocked, but what they have is stellar, so go!

They are located downtown, behind the Old Provost Dungeon, on Exchange St.

Ballard had a nice little review of the Avery dinner in the City Paper:

It really was a fabulous dinner, pairings worked well and the beers were a plenty. I’m a cheap ass but this was well worth the $65, I’d do it again anytime. Props to Palmer at Chai’s for putting it all together and helping with the Charleston craft beer scene.

Get ready for one of the best beer dinners Charleston has ever seen. It is a 6 course dinner with two Avery beers for each course. Adam Avery will be at the dinner to talk about all the beers and answer any questions. I will post the menu later today. There are limited spaces available for this dinner. September 8th is the official release date we are hearing for Stone in South Carolina. I know a lot will be bottles, not sure of the draft situation. We sure have come a long way in 16 months. Here’s a recap of the breweries we have now in SC:

I am sure I forgot some, but you get the point. A bunch of breweries and choices.

Bull Street Beer Tasting

If you haven’t dropped by and seen the sign on their door, you may not know that Bull Street Gourmet is having a $5 beer and wine tasting on Thursday, August 21 (yes, five dollars!).

Bull Street hosts the tastings every other Thursday to provide a place for people to sip some goodness and raise money for charity.

This month’s charity is the World Wildlife Foundation, the famed panda-logoed organization helping to protect endangered species. Five dollars covers the beer and the wine, the donations are up to you. —Alison Sher

Carolina’s Restaurant in downtown Charleston is having another beer dinner. Glad to see them doing that again.
