Be sure to see the page at the top of the blog “Beer stores in Charleston Area”. I try to keep an updated list of what store has new HG offerings. Feel free to drop me an email or add your sighting in the comments section. I’m working on a way to do this easier….any ideas? Beer mapping?
June 5 at High Cotton, downtown Charleston. Sounds like a really nice event. I wish I could go to more of these, not really a great event for a vegetarian 😦
On Sunday, 5/13/07, ABC brewer their first high gravity. It is an
Imperial or Double IPA style with a final alcohol content of 8.87% A v/v. They
are calling it Aiken’s Double Pale Ale (DPA) and it will be on tap Friday
Nice, I wish Aiken were a lot closer to Charleston!
Come celebrate popping the cap in Charleston with Allagash!

I have been talking with breweries in the state about a PTCSC Commemorative brew. I would love if all breweries could brew something for this. No specified stlye, just one that takes advantage of our new above 6.2% law. So far, Aiken Brewing is doing a Imperial/Double IPA at around 8.8%- due out at the end of the month. Last I heard, Thomas Creek will do a Celebration Ale. Coast will brew it’s first beer that will also be our celebratory brew- an IPA as well. Several other breweries are in the midst of planning, but no definites yet. Please mention this to your favorite brewery in case I haven;t contacted them yet. Have them drop me a line and let me know. I am really looking forward to this!
At 4:23 today, Governor Sanford signed 3218 into law! SC can now enjoy craft beer up to 14%abw (17.5%by volume). Beer must be approved (all beer must go through this) which will take some time but it’s a done deal! I would like to thank every person who took the time to email, write letters and call our Representatives to voice their support of this bill. South Carolina now truly is a world-class travel destination with a soon to match world-class beer selection.
I’m off to finally relax and enjoy my newly legal barleywine. Look for updates on beer events happening around the state and what PTCSC might be up to next.
